The one that got away

She's the girl that believes that what goes around comes around.

The one that hopes for a better day.

The one that would never give up on you.

She's the girl that's unlike the rest.

The one that spent her days smiling and her nights crying.

She's the girl that would love to be loved.

The one that looks so damn strong, but feels weak.

She's the girl that picks herself up every time she falls.

That girl's eyes won't light up when she hears your name anymore.

She won't get chills when you walk by her,

And her heart won't race when she sees your smile.

You won't get to her like you used to.

You're just a bad memory in the back of her mind.

So don't be surprised when you make your way past her and she doesn't even glance your way.

Don't bother trying to talk to her.

You won't get a response.

She's over fighting the same loosing battle.

The saddest part is that you have no one to blame but yourself.

She gave you every chance you could've asked for.

And you messed up every time.

Now she will walk around with nothing but a smile on her face,

And she will laugh harder and louder then she ever did before.

Looks like you lost her.

"After a while you learn
The subtle difference between
Holding a hand and chaining a soul
And you learn that love doesn't mean leaning
And company doesn't always mean security.

And you begin to learn
That kisses aren't contracts
And presents aren't promises
And you begin to accept your defeats
With your head up and your eyes ahead
With the grace of a woman
Not the grief of a child

And you learn
To build all your roads on today
Because tomorrow's ground is
Too uncertain for plans
And futures have a way
Of falling down mid flight

After a while you learn
That even sunshine burns if you get too much
So you plant your own garden
Decorate your own soul
Instead of waiting
For someone to bring you flowers

And you learn
That you really can endure
That you are really strong
That you really do have worth
And you learn and you learn
With every goodbye you learn"
